Imagining Schools as Centres of Professional Learning
One of the enduring lessons from operating in crises may very well be the amplification of the importance of engaging networks across and beyond schools in the accomplishment of learning-focused missions. In this presentation, we will consider how schools can be effective sites of professional learning. We will build on what the knowledge base tells us about supports and barriers to achieving this aim, share insights from our own research and practice, and envision possibilities for schools going forward using a real world example. Core to achieving this goal is the engagement of staff in learning communities that operate on the basis of shared leadership and constructing strong and agile networks. Participants will have the opportunity to assess practices and potential in their own schools.
- Potential models, structures and practices of shared leadership.
- Strategies for implementation at the team and school levels.
