Survive or thrive? Transforming a School with Innovation during the COVID-19
COVID-19 often presents as a threat to survival rather than an opportunity to thrive. Sam Shui Natives Association Huen King Wing School was one of the earliest local primary schools adopting real-time online learning across all subjects and all grades during class suspension in Hong Kong. Ms. Lee will share her experiences of walking against the wind and how to make it happen within the thick local system. Dr. Lu will analyze how Ms. Lee’s combined use of ‘ordinary’ leadership practices and ‘extra-ordinary’ leadership practices successfully transformed a disadvantaged school into a more popular school in the district, within half a year.

- More clarity in understanding how the combined use of conventional leadership practices and new leadership practices can transform schools
- Greater confidence in the difference that can be made by a school leader
